Renault delay to build a lithium battery factory

Renault continues to progress on the expansion of its new range of electric cars. For this new product line to grow and not remain adrift in the middle of its development, the company built a factory on the outskirts of Paris to make their own lithium-ion batteries.

This project is critical to their models, and Nissan, provided the batteries and developed by the same company. It costs much less, and managed to position their electric vehicles at a good price in Europe.

Battery Litium-ion
Renault to build the plant estimated in mid 2012, but technical problems may simply be the end of the plant in 2014 or 2015. This problem does not affect the final price of the vehicle, as if this plant would be completed before the costs of their vehicles would decrease considerably.

Now Renault bought the AESC batteries group, a commercial alliance between Nissan, NEC and LG Chemical Division.
